Kankar Red Blend 2012

Another faulty cork, but this wine has done a lot of growing up in the last couple of years since I've come back to it. Much darker and dense fruit core. Black fruit, hint of truffle, hint of mushroom, black spice and lots of dense powerful black fruit in the front and the middle. The nose of this integrates cinnamon with flowers with dark black fruit. This one finishes much stronger than the Barranca which was one vintage younger. I would say there is absolutely no rush to drink this one, and I will keep my other bottle around another year or two in order to see how it integrates. Still has some toasted tannin on the finish. Probably one of the best red wines I've had from this producer. — 2 years ago

Cira Vineyard Cabernet Franc 2011

Absolutely true to its humble place and the group of winemakers that put this together. So balanced and clear, not trying to be anything it isn't. I got this out and opened it simply because Patricia put a small very rich gravy-like food in front of me...minimal complexity. This came in to hold the balance and smooth out my palette perfectly. I slowly enjoyed it the rest of the evening. It didn't change even a bit...reminded me of the last Saumur rouge I had. Relaxation and rest are in this glass...a nice accent to my evening of kitchen work. — 6 years ago

Arts & Crafts Central Coast Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2016

Merlot fronted Bordeaux blend from Santa Ynez (43% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Franc, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon). Much better with time to breath. Mixed berry fruit, tobacco, and subtle black licorice. Acidity stands firms and outshines tannins on the palate. Super fresh and juicy forest fruits pervade. Think pasta or grilled chicken pairing. Cool label artwork too! — 2 years ago

Harmon Vineyards Merlot 2009

Ah yes, simplicity. California wins with subtly again. This tastes, feels, drinks organic all the way. True to the grape with little to no human intervention present. — 6 years ago
