Time for a good #FridayCabernetfix. Here is a great one from Napa Valley.
Inky in color with a short purple rim.
Showing black fruits with cedar, earth, vanilla, licorice, tobacco, coke, chocolates, dark coffee, leather, spices and peppercorn.
Full bodied and smooth with medium acidity. Dry on the palate with nice balance and mouthfeel.
This is a delicious Bordeaux blend from Napa Valley. Complex and opulent, and might be too much for some.
Dark, rich and handsome. Very tasty now, although still young. Will be nice to revisit it in 10 years.
Robert Parker 95 points. Thank you Scott for sharing.
Good by itself or with food, like a big piece of steak.
A blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Cabernet Franc, 15% Petit Verdot and 4% Merlot.
15.2% alcohol by volume.

A Santa Barbara County Proprietary Red Wine. Unfiltered and unfined. Entirely constructed of Estrella-clone Syrah from two ends of the Santa Rita Hills and a sprinkling of Viognier. Native-yeast fermented with 40% whole cluster inclusion and raised in large neutral barrels for 26-months. Matthias’ expression of great Syrah from a great Syrah growing region, cool coastal vineyards north of Santa Barbara. Recommended to a little above cellar temperature.
Young boysenberries. Steeping Darjeeling tea. A hint of barbecue smoke drifts by.
The color of a deep burgundy Chrysler Cordoba. Big, velvety mouthfeel, but not Corinthian leather.
Taste: Black cherries, just before 100% ripe. A touch of blueberry pie, but savory, not sweet. Finish: A finish of black pepper with a touch of cocoa nib at the last few touches of finish. Juicy, bustling tannins right to the point where you think they’re a touch too bold, but then the finish reaches over and says “I believe you were mistaken”.

Received a shipment from Bedrock this week and dove right in. This Zin made from 80+ year old vines from multiple regions is outstanding, especially at $25. Accessible now, with an almost translucent pinot-like color, lots of dark fruit, and a mellow finish. Faded a bit in the glass. Putting a few away to enjoy again in a couple years. — 6 days ago
Fresh off the FedEx...laser focused, pure pleasure... imagine forgetting to sugar your fresh squeezed lemon/lime juice...then adding 50% of your usual. Pucker up and embrace the vibrant acidity, the lip-smacking medium weight, the 12% ABV, and the long 30 second finish. Not a great wine, but so much pure fun... and it “tastes so frigging good.” Bravo Hardy et al! — 7 days ago
Rusty, dusty maroon. Pretty classic color. Smells like wood, spices, licorice and good blackberry jam. Oh and wine. Smells winey. Like a wine cellar smells. Flavors are smooth and less tannic than expected. Tastes like cherry and berry sauce meets a nice fruit licorice from Australia or Holland. Also tomato and tobacco leaves. Balanced and complete. This is a very drinkable and enjoyable Central Valley Cab at a nice price. — 9 days ago
