Brunel De La Gardine

Château de la Gardine

Cuvée des Generations Gaston Philippe Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2012

#AgedWineTuesday.

Dark ruby in color with a reddish/ brick rim.

Pretty nose of red and black fruits with cedar, licorice and chocolate notes.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with sweet raspberries, cherries, plums, light cedar, earth, herbs, chocolates, black pepper and tobacco leaf.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.

This is a delicious 14 year old GSM blend from Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Rich, but not extracted. Elegant with lots of chocolate notes. Well balanced with nice complexity.

Impressively fresh and youthful for its age, with good structure and balance. The high alcohol is well integrated by now.

I've had a few vintages of this wine and it is very consistent.

Drinking at its peak, and will continue to drink nicely in the next 5 to 7 years.

A gorgeous wine to drink by itself or with food.

A blend of 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 20% Mourvedre. Grapes from very old vines are aged in new French oak barrels for 14 months.

15% alcohol by volume.

Féraud-Brunel

Côtes du Rhône Villages Red Rhône Blend 2007

Opened the day before with half the bottle remaining. The 2007 CdR Villages pours a deep purple color with an opaque core; medium viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is vinous with notes of ripe and desiccated dark brambles, red and purple flowers, open pasture land, olives, some black pepper, leather and organic earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium acid. Confirming the notes from the nose, the finish is medium+. This is an impressive wine despite the rather modest designation, especially when you consider it’s nearly 18 years old! Then again, the talent behind this wine should yield a solid wine (Pegau & Cailloux). Drink now though it could easily see its 25th birthday if you must hold one longer. — 10 months ago

La Bécassonne Côtes du Rhône White Rhone Blend 2022

GOSH this blend of Roussanne, Clairette and Grenache Blanc makes for a poised, silky and aromatic but elegant bottle I’d imagine paying twice as much for. The nose promises stone fruit and incense adventure, while the palate is cozy, adding warming spice, lanolin and honeydew melon, along side hints of wet stone to keep it all fresh. J’adore, je affor(d). — a year ago
