Portugal Red Blend 2017

Big #touriganacional #tintaroriz #syrah #alicantebouschet 35/25/25/15% blend. First day it’s venting off the vanilla from oak but day 2 out of the wine fridge and it’s much more interesting. Purple black in the glass. Dense bramble fruit, slate and pepper aromas, solid acidity and moderate soft tannins avoids the flabby trap. The winemaker seems to be improving every vintage. #wsjwineclub — 17 days ago

Andrus Island Vineyard Albariño 2018

Nose: sea salt, lemon, white flowers, peach, tiny hint of petrol.
Palate: similar notes, but they kind of flip intensities on the palate— ripe citrus, ripe peach, sea salt, flowers, stones
High acid, medium weight, 12% alc

Domaine Roulot

Charmes Meursault 1er Cru Chardonnay 2004

Light gold. Awesome nose. Notes of lemon and tan spice, white stones, some mint and fennel, and a hint of tangerine. Lean and razor sharp in the mouth. In perfect shape, and bottles like this easily have 10 more years of life during which it can certainly improve. Gave it 3 hours in a decanter and it was still pretty tight in its showing. — 7 days ago

Bodega Catena Zapata

White Stones Adrianna Vineyard Chardonnay 2010

My first white stones. Interesting typicity that’s unfamiliar to me. Unlike any chard I’ve had. For my taste this is best slightly below cellar temp. There’s a lot going on. When too cold, the lemon/lime aspect overwhelmed the rest of it. — 23 days ago

Herencia Altes

L'Estel Garnacha-Syrah Blend 2015

Interesting Garnacha/Syrah Blend from Catalonia. Intense aromas of red and black fruit with notes of minerals, stones and baking spices. Dried (intense) red and black berry flavors along with hints of toast and those baking spices. A bit of a green leafy quality which is quite pleasant. Creamy texture. Fine and velvety tannins and nice ruby color. Harmonious and well balanced. Excellent QPR. — 6 days ago

Brut Vouvray Chenin Blanc 2015

Elegant champagne alternative—at a tasty price. Nose is wonderfully fresh and teases an understated but complex palate, giving green apple, honey, ginger, wet stones, white flowers and a little fresh mushroom. — 14 days ago

Speaking Rock Similkameen Valley Cabernet Franc 2016

Visited this lovely estate winery in August 2020. Had a wonderful tour, visited the wine cave, enjoyed 6-8 tastings. The Cabernet Franc is robust. Peppery and berry fruit on the nose followed by chocolate and a hint of coffee and a smooth, easy finish. Enjoyed a rare steak and piping hot baked potato with a large glass. — 20 days ago

Erdener Treppchen Auslese Riesling 1993

Surprisingly light in color for the claimed pradikat and age. Nose shows plenty of complexity, with cooked yellow apple, caramel, warm stones, a hont of petrol. — 10 days ago

I bought it when it was already 'old' maybe 5 years in my cellar.

Stones No. 2 Perrarus Chardonnay

Coolest bottle out there. I’m getting a more floral than fruit bouquet. Pretty mild all around. Some peach, apricot and lemon. Mild acidity. Very smooth. Will try again tomorrow to see how it is second day. Second night: enhanced flavors, more fullness. — a month ago
