Barrel Springs

Bedrock Wine Co.

Alder Springs Mendocino County Syrah 2018

This the Calico California Syrah, which is a blend from all over CA. Bedrock dumps it in barrel, stirs it up, and as usual a very nice wine ends up in the bottle! I must be the first to drink! — 5 days ago

La Source Seven Springs Vineyard Chardonnay 2017

This Chardonnay is very good, but not worth its very high price. The flavors are very complex, but not well-coordinated. The palette begins with Apple and pineapple, tasting more European than American, but then finishes with a buttery flavor. The achievement of so many flavors was impressive, but the flavors did not match up for me. The balance of flavors improved over time with oxygen, so perhaps I should have let it breathe an hour before consuming. Good, but I wouldn’t buy it again. — a day ago

Barrel X Saar Riesling 2015

Just concluded the annual Fall seclusion at our cabin in the Rangeley lakes region of Maine, mobile service up there is mostly non-existent, after several days I am posting again. Notes are somewhat brief, as my focus is relaxing and watching the Common Loons swimming and diving in the cove in front of our camp.

Nose has bright green apple, saline solution, distant petrol, under-ripe peach, sliced apricot, clover honey and wet flint
Palate has effervescent and tart apple juice, tart pear, under-ripe peach, green apple peel, wet limestone with solid acidity and a ever lingering sweet/salty/tart finish. A great bottle!

Kerloo Cellars

Lonesome Springs Ranch Rosé 2018

Yakima Valley, 50/50 Grenache Mourvèdre. 240 cases made by small urban winery in Seattle. Light salmon pink with golden tinge, rather pretty. Excellent clarity. Slight sulfite, floral notes in nose, maybe citrus peel and cherry. Cherry and stone fruit (peach-nectarine) flavors, slight white pepper on finish. Dry, good acid as well as length of fruit flavors. Well made, minimal tannins here, at least on initial pour. A winner — 19 days ago

Slightly cloudy appearance, dull not bright. Discovered tiny pieces of solid matter in the glass so seems unfined and unfiltered. Definitely better uncorked than Coravinned, needs to breath a little. With Coravin there’s some reductive notes and vegetable notes. Medium(-) aromas that remind me of stems and fermentation (tank sample) definitely som stems in the ferment. Warm alcohol on the nose and on the palate. Still, good balance between the intensity and the richness of ripe red fruit and the acidity. A little too much alcohol sensation for me. #eolaamityhills #oregon #oregonwine #pinotnoir — 22 days ago

Barrel Reserve California Pinot Noir 2018

Color of ruby, clear. Nose of fresh cranberry, milky vanilla, licorice, spice, some strawberry ice cream, tangerine, and sweet sensation. Taste of spice and zest, some backbone tannins, sweetness, and fresh grapes. Aftertaste of some more warmth in the throat. Easy to drink. A bit sweet for me. On par. — 23 days ago
