Took a while but after the light sour cherry, the earth and mushroom came along. Solid QPR — 11 hours ago
Loved it! Strong out front, but smooth finish. Lots of layers..needs to breathe a good couple hours, but worth the wait. — 12 days ago
Probably in the top 5 reds I’ve had. 2016 from Aldi; £6 — 23 days ago
Fragrant, honeyed nose. Quite a bit of ginger, floral but not high toned; bruised flowers that are less fresh than caramelized. Actually smells like Sauternes, and the texture is similar. Dense and unctuous, but only a little sweet, the acid very much in balance. Resonating ginger spiciness, and vegetal, herbal bitterness on the palate and long finish. Complex. A lot more intellectually interesting right now than purely enjoyable for me, but I don’t drink a lot of Gewürztraminer. — 23 days ago
Tonight I couldn't wait for the October 23rd Champagne day I had to open a sparkling wine the Domaine de La Petite Roche from the Saumur of the Loire Valley. A blend of 80% Chenin Blanc and 20% Chardonnay.
On the nose there is green apple, peach, apricot, honeysuckle, marzipan, chamomile and a good mineral note.
On the palate I am getting lemon, lime, yellow apple, peach, apricot, a nutty not and brioche.
This sparkling wine is medium bodied with medium + acidity and a medium to + citrus minerality finish. Continue having a wonderful week and please stay healthy and safe. Nostrovia! 🥂🥂🥂🥂 — 2 days ago
A really nice Beaujolais from Fleurie, Ruby with aromas of perfumed red/black fruits, exotic spices with slight smoky notes. On the palate flavors of tart fresh raspberry and cherry, licorice and anise and mineral notes. Chalky tannins, vivid acidity, long finish ending with smoky mineral fruit. Nice! — a month ago
Just concluded the annual Fall seclusion at our cabin in the Rangeley lakes region of Maine, mobile service up there is mostly non-existent, after several days I am posting again. Notes are somewhat brief, as my focus is relaxing and watching the Common Loons swimming and diving in the cove in front of our camp.
Nose has moist limestone, cold lime wedge, under-ripe pear, sweet yellow apple, tangerine zest, light petrol notes and dry limestone pebbles.
Palate has candied pineapple, dried lemon, lemon zest, warmed green apple with ripe acidity and a classy, rich limestone finish, long and contemplative. — a month ago
This Pichon-Baron was in the earliest peak of its window, pure ✏️ and graphite cigar box nose, rich, intense, leading cassis, tar and a mineral and wonderfully tannic trip over the palate and a long, 40 second finish that was reminiscent dry red clay. Good news: I have 11 more in the case I cracked last night. Bad news: I’ll be in my 60’s before these open up and the secondary stuff really starts to show. — 10 days ago
Deep Ruby with an interesting blend of 7 grapes (3 white included!), berry fruit and floral aromas. On the palate ripe blackberry and bluebrrry with citrus and floral notes adding spice and some toasty oak. Long finish, good balance ending with some leather, cacao and spice. — 25 days ago
