It is a dark wine, and the nose is very expressive. Blackberry, cassis, vanilla, tea and a slight brambly note are present. On the palate, savory cola and oak spice get into the act, while the tannins are firm, but not overly so. The dark fruit is there, but the savory aspect of the flavor profile definitely leads the way. Have a juicy filet with this one - they deserve each other. — 4 days ago
It's got a beautiful nose. Ripe fruits, balancing minerals, slight dusty — 24 days ago
Nice spicy and floral Gewurztraminer aromas and flavors, a tad riper than than the Alsatians from last night, solid balancing acidity, medium-long finish, nice! — 23 days ago
Another incredible oldie that held up amazingly well. Cork looked like it’s ten years old with only bottom third stained through though it did break apart when pulled and lead seal is in excellent condition. Wine level showed no loss. Wonder if recorked at some point. Nice ruby color with little bricking. Whiff of worrisome sherry note that dissipated very quickly. Again like that Souverain Pinot a beautiful endlessly sniffable nose of almost fermented fruits and apples and autumnal forest floor carrying through to firmly textured palate but a relatively short finish. It’s a class act that still plays well. So second gem of the four. — 14 days ago
Fragrant & savoury and slowly entering the drinking window.
Dark, juicy cherries, a floral hint, a meaty whiff + a pinch of spice. Beautiful polished tannins that still grip this baby tight and juicy acidity balancing it out. Nice precision, good length + a great sense of place. This is a really fine wine!
Give it 1-2 hours in the carafe and it will shine! — 20 days ago
Fantastic wine, really enjoyed this one. The nose is stewed blackberries, plum, tobacco, baking spice, cedar wood and raisin. This is powerful juice and it tastes rich and almost chewy with the myriad of flavours balancing the tannins and acidity. The palate is ripe dark cherries, light smokey oak, vanilla and winter spices. It has a long elegant fruit driven finish which I liked. This may not suit the purists as alcohol is high and the style is right up in your business but I wish there were more Bordeaux offerings at affordable price points that really make you feel wow, that was just a great reflection of the region that can be enjoyed now, without taking a second mortgage or waiting until a time you may never see to enjoy. Worth grabbing a bottle. — 2 days ago
