7 Crus Brut Champagne Chardonnay

Delectable Wine
9.1

The NV Brut 7 Crus is an attractive, easygoing wine that will drink well upon release. A touch of Pinot softens the edges nicely, giving this Chardonnay-base Champagne tons of accessibility. Lemon confit, chamomile, mint and white pepper all open in the glass, but it is the wine's textural feel that makes the 7 Crus so rewarding to taste and drink today. This release is equal parts 2017 and 2016, from parcels in Avize, Oger, Oiry, Cramant, Avenay Val d’Or, Bergères les Vertus and Mardeuil. About 25% of the wine was done in neutral oak, the rest in cask. Dosage is 7 grams per liter. Disgorged: April, 2020. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, November 2020) — 14 days ago

Domaine Gros Frère et Sœur

Richebourg Grand Cru Pinot Noir 1995

Reddish tawny color. Deep brooding nose. Notes of black cherry, sois bois, Asian spice and moist soil. Needed 7 hours in a decanter to show its stuff. Silky and memorable. — 8 days ago

Domaine Jean-Louis Chave

L'Hermitage Blanc Marsanne Roussanne 2015

Meaty, peppery, fragrant goodness with strong cassis taste Approachable now but this wine deserves another 5 to 7 years of cellar to show its full potential. — 9 days ago

Côtes du Jura Poulsard Blend 2018

This needs at least 5-7 more years. After 4-hr decant, lovely aroma with hints of future glory, bright fruit, astringent tannin. Like Barry White—this wine has so much love to give. Just needs a bit. Elegant rusticity. — 11 days ago
