Angostura

Château Charmail

Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel Haut-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 2019

40/40/12/8 blend of CS/M/CF/ PV from north if St. Estephe.
Surprisingly open & approachable with a beautiful fresh nose with raspberries, red currant gelée, some moist undergrowth. Fresh, fragrant, flowery with a note of blood orange. So enticing!
On the palate this remains medium bodied & fresh, juicy. The tannins present & beefy yet so finely polished. Red fruits again either the hint of blood orange, some darker cassis after some time. Finishes off with a touch of angostura bitter. This has amazing flow and energy plus good depth.
What a truly lovely wine and right up my alley!
Need to stock up!

Bianco Venezia Giulia IGT Malvasia Istriana 2013

An experience. Rounded oxidative nose, some copper, dried apricots, honey, botrytis, passito-like elements. On the palate it’s viscous, bone dry, mild acidity and a touch of angostura bitters. Cool but not something I want to drink often — 3 years ago

Karnage (Charles Dagand & Stephane Planche)

Zak Mauzac 2020

Whaaaat? Natty Mauzac vinified in the Jura. Cloudy pale-ish lemon. Bruised green apple, lemon zest, dried white peach, angostura bitters, chamomile, Basque sidra, fresh sage, hazelnut, white mushroom, tamari, brackish minerality. A bit of CO2 prickle; bracing, manzanilla sherry-like acidity. Light and lifted but subtly textural. Begs for shellfish. Perfect for a sweltering Texas summer night. — 2 years ago

Garrison Brothers

Texas Straight Bourbon Whiskey

I’ve enjoyed Garrison Brothers’ Bourbon for many years now, and have gone through more than my fair share of bottles. Now, at long last, I’ve decided to indulge once more and get another bottle so I can make my all-time favorite Old Fashioned (called the “Hye Fashioned,” which is served at Four Seasons Austin’s lobby bar/lounge, Live Oak). Today was my first attempt at re-creating this sensational libation at home, and it was a hit 🔥 It consists of Garrison Brothers Bourbon, Remy Martin VSOP, Demerara simple syrup, Angostura bitters, orange peel, and Luxardo cherries. The Garrison Brothers Bourbon provides an integrally raw, firm backbone to the otherwise sweet nature of this luxurious iteration of a timeless classic 🥃 — 4 years ago

2020. Pink red color. Fine bubbles and mousse. Savory notes with sharp tannins that make me think of angostura bitters — 3 years ago

Las Nubes Red Blend 2019

Makes me think of an old fashioned soda shop. Cherry syrup and rosemary extract and a dash of angostura bitters. The type of medicine you’d enjoy. Ripe, but lucid and delicate - think Burgundy or Poulsard. — 3 years ago

Les Lunes Wine

Brueske Vineyard Pinot Noir 2019

Smells like spiced cranberry orange and angostura bitters. Raw, bright, fruity - 50% whole cluster, murky and unfiltered.

Tastes like black cherries and baking spice. Little salty, lotsa minerals.
